Vishakhapatnam, June 28, 2021: The Second Wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has had a lasting impact on almost everyone. For students particularly, the lockdown has caused deep distress – the constant worry about exams being rescheduled, preparing for competitive exams online as well as the fear of an uncertain future. However, this period of grief and struggle has also given rise to many stories of courage among the student community that are a true inspiration for all. Of fighting against a situation and overcoming it and of finding opportunity in adversity.

One of such story is that of 16-year-old aspiring engineerN Moulya Sree, a student of Aakash Institute in Dwarka Nagar, Visakhapatnam.

Hailing from Kummapalli Village in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, N Moulya Sree’s father, a farmer, took care of a sharedfarmland spanning nearly 35 hectares out which only a part of 6 hectares was owned by them. With low surplus and failing to sustain the family of 5 including 2 children, her father stopped working at the farm and began working on contractual basis as a laborer. The family struggled to make ends meet yet helped Moulya Sree towards achieving her dream of becoming an engineer by enrolling her at Aakash Institute in Visakhapatnam to prepare for JEE.

Always being dedicated to studies, N Moulya Sree has keen interest in Physics and Machinery. She particularly researched through equipment and machines required in agribusiness to help her father with his job at the farm. Unfortunately, the family could afford nothing more than basic equipment leading to her aspiration of making machines by herself so she could help her father.

Living in a remote area, she struggled with attending classes from her phone due to network issues. Stating her struggles, N Moulya Sree said, “I used to have hard time connecting to my classes as we live in a remote area and there are often issues with the network. Studying from phone itself was a task as it doesn’t provide you flexibility and comfort as that of a laptop.

She further added, “My family has struggled a lot financially, I have seen my father work at the farm day and night, yet we were strained to meet even basic needs. He loved working at his piece of land. However, raising two children is difficult with such earnings, so he gave up farming. He started working on contractual basis as a labor which helped in making the situation a little better. Lack of proper machinery and equipment has been one of the reasons why we struggled with adequate surplus, which is why I decided to pursue engineering so I can make machinery by myself with a bare minimum cost of parts. My goal is to crack JEE, pursue my engineering from IIT and then move to the USA for MSc.My only dream is to see my parents happy, living without thinking of money as a constraint.

Aakash Institute has made special efforts to ensure that students from Tier 2 cities and rural areas who were badly hit when the lockdown struck, are able to continue their studies and are not left behind. Teachers across all branches in India are making constant efforts to mentor the student, solve their doubts and help them so as to overcome their infrastructure needs and any problems thereof.

Mr. Aakash Chaudhry, Managing Director, Aakash Educational Services Limited said, “While people focus on earning more and more money to buy what they need, N Moulya Sree is focused on designing and assembling the equipment required for her father’s farming by her own. Such students are rare. We at Aakash, are committed to provide best learning culture to help such students achieve their higher goals even while struggling through difficult circumstances. We ensure that no geographical boundaries or financial statements should be the reason why a child is unable to follow his or her dreams. We put in efforts to reach out to such exceptional students living in remote areas while providing as much support as possible. I am glad, Ms Sree has such aspirations. I wish her all the best for her JEE exam hoping she fulfils all her dreams.
