Don’t miss this Women’s Day episode only on Har Ghar Startup exclusively on Tata Play.

Speaking on how she started her journey, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw said, “I was 25 when I started Biocon. That was another phase of my life, where, when I finally decided to start Biocon, sometimes when I look back on it, it was foolish courage. Because it was a very tough path to go down. I was 25 years old, I was a young woman, I had no business experience, I had Rs. 10,000 in my bank. And I was trying to start a strange business called Biotech which nobody understood. And I was high risk in the eyes of everyone that I had to deal with.”

Further speaking about the advice she would give young entrepreneurs, Kiran said, “My advice to entrepreneurs is, focus on getting good people and the right leadership to share your journey. Because very often I find entrepreneurs want to play a very authoritarian role in driving their businesses. That's `never been my style. I've always believed that you've got to have a good team and you have to delegate your responsibilities and share your responsibilities amongst that leadership team to grow fast and to make sure that you have the bandwidth to grow.”
